Gary grew up on a ranch in a very rural area of South Dakota. After
high school he moved to Colorado to further his education and then
went to work for Phillips Petroleum Co. plotting geological information
for the Oil Exploration Department. After a few years he returned
to the Black Hills of South Dakota and started a construction business.
In 1986 he and Kay moved to Colorado Springs where he worked for
a large construction company managing projects until retirement.
Gary came from a strong Catholic background, but over the years
some of the doctrine became questionable to him as God was working
change in his life. As he became exposed to Reformed teaching and
Biblical grounding, the struggle with guilt and then the disconnect
from Catholicism occurred. When he turned his life over to Christ
as Lord and Savior, things would never be the same. Gary and Kay
went on their first short-term mission trip with the Village Seven
team 2 ½ years ago to a place named Juarez, to serve a ministry
called BEAMM. Wow! What an experience! They saw a ministry with
a mission, a vision, a defined purpose and leadership that God was
clearly working in and through. God laid on their hearts to return
for the next 2 years to help with short-term team construction and
to help host teams. God is now preparing the way for them to become
full-time with the BEAMM ministry.
