Obed Uc grew up in the Yucatan of Mexico and is a graduate of the San Pablo Seminary in Mérida. Obed came to Ciudad Juárez to assist the BEAMM missionaries as an intern. In 2003, after graduation, Obed came to Ciudad Juárez to begin a long-term ministry with BEAMM . Obed came to Ciudad Juárez to learn church planting and gain experience in church planting. While missionaries raised funds through BEAMM to cover his expenses as he served as an intern, no funding was available for him in this post-graduate work. Obed said that he was willing to get a job at one of the maquiladoras (factories) in the city to be self-supportive.

In late 2003 and early 2004, Obed worked with Samuel Lopez, Zeneida Itza, and Josue and Martha Mayo to begin planting a church in a neighborhood called "Calzada del Rio", while also assisting in the worship at the Gracia y Paz church.

In the summer of 2004, Obed began training to take over the pastorate of Gracia y Paz from Josue Mayo so that Josue could focus all of his attention on his duties as BEAMM Regional Director. In December, 2005, Obed was ordained by Presbiterio de Chihuahua and asume his duties as pastor of Gracia y Paz. Obed is married with Brenda Lara (06/18/05) and they have a daughter called Zhoe (06/29/06).
