Erwin was pastoring a non-denominational church in Laredo, TX, from 1991 until August, 2005. Near the end of 2004, the church decided to join with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
He has completed his studies at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, receiving a degree in Computer Administration. In Laredo, he obtained a degree in Pastoral Counseling from The Ecumenical Center for Religion and Health of San Antonio, TX.
Currently, Erwin and his wife, Laura, live in Reynosa, Mexico, together with their three daughters: Melissa (13), Sara (11) y Ana Lucia (9). There, Erwin works with Isaiah 55 Deaf Ministries as a counselor and helps with short-term teams. He has also formed an ESL class and a small Bible study for people within their community. Erwin has also begun training a number of local pastors in Reformed doctrine, using material from Third Millennium Ministries. BEAMM is working to encourage volunteers from PCA churches to assist Erwin with this training.
