Wilbert grew up in a Christian home in the Yucatan of Mexico. He
gave his life to Christ at the age of seventeen, and a year later
began studying at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary of Mérida.
Wilbert was one of the first students from the Seminary to be invited
by BEAMM to come to the "La Frontera" (the border) as
a summer intern. It was through this experience that he committed
his heart to the border and promised to work there after graduation.
Wilbert married Magali Gómez in December 2001. Two days after
graduating from seminary, Wilbert traveled to Ciudad Juárez
to work with Josué Mayo and the new Vida Nueva congregation.
Two years later, Vida Nueva, which has thirty-six members, has secured
a property and building of its own, and Wilbert was installed as
pastor there. Now Wilbert is working for the San Pablo Seminary
as a teacher, besides helping in the administration. Wilbert and
Magali have two children: Benjamin and Zabdi.
