5. How can I be a BEAMM Intern?

BEAMM interns serve from one month to eleven months, helping with church planting, mercy ministries, and hosting short-term teams. Serving as a BEAMM intern gives you a taste of missions work without the long-term committment!  Click on the picture below to find out more!

10. In case of emergency, how do I reach someone who is serving with BEAMM on a short-term team?

There are two ways through which you may be able to contact someone who is serving with BEAMM on a short-term team:

1) Call them directly - While we discourage people bringing cell phones with them to the border, we understand that team leaders may need to have phone access in case of emergency. However, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to reach them, depending on their cell service provider.

2) Contact your BEAMM Short-Term Project Coordinator - This is the preferred method, because we are always in contact with the BEAMM personnel who are working with your team. You may contact one of the following people in case of emergency:

11. Do I have to know Spanish to serve with BEAMM?

For some positions with BEAMM, especially for two-month interns, it is not necessary to speak Spanish, but helpful. However, BEAMM does have a requirement for all two-year or career missionaries to know or learn Spanish to a conversational level before beginning service with the team.

Conversely, we are encouraging, and aiding, our Mexican team members to learn English. Our goal is that all BEAMM team members would be bilingual.

12. I would like to donate clothing to people in Mexico. Can I do that through BEAMM?

Right now, the Mexican government is not disposed to our bringing used clothing into the country in bulk. However, if you wish to donate one or two items of clothing to our Mexican BEAMM team members, we can help you to do so. Please contact LuAnn Bowman luannbowman@beamm.org (915) 838-3747 for more information.
