David was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and raised in Fresno, California. Dawn was born in Toledo, Ohio. He came to Christ through the witness of his mom and a college Bible study, while attending Fresno State. Dawn came to Christ at a young age. Her grandfather, who was always sharing his faith, had a significant influence on her, and she felt called to missions at age 11.
David and Dawn have served in missions since before they were married in 1989. They were involved in church planting with Mission to the World in Mexico City, one of the world's largest cities, from 1990 – 2000. While in Mexico they were involved in training national youth workers, pastors, and other church leaders. Along with their three children, David, Jr., Jonathan, and Hannah, the Diaso's moved back to the States in 2000. While living in Colorado Springs, David began training missionaries who were preparing for service on the foreign mission field. They worked with Mission to the World's training team "Global Training and Development" from 1999 – 2002.
David ministered with Dr. Thomas Graham and the Center for Organizational and Ministry Development from 2002 - 2006. He was involved in assessing both foreign and domestic church planters, as to their skills, knowledge, attitudes, and giftedness to work as church planters. He was also involved in consulting U.S. churches. While working with COMD, David was able to study for and receive his doctorate in missiology from New Geneva Theological Seminary in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
David and Dawn joined Greater Europe Mission in 2006, where David was involved in the preparation and training of GEM's missionary appointees. This gave David a great opportunity to share what he had learned over the years in his cross-cultural ministry with those that God is calling to serve in Europe with GEM.
In 2010, David and Dawn felt called to return to the front lines in missions to serve with MTW's BEAMM team. The needs along the border are crushing and it is their hope and prayer that God might use them, and those with whom they serve, to see the border and beyond reached for Christ.
David was ordained in 1990 by the Presbyterian Church in America.
